Ellis Ray Schott Age 96, passed away peacefully at his home on October 21, 2025. Ellis was born November 26, 1928 in Pontiac, IL to Howard and Mabel Schott. Ellis married the love of his life, Delores (nee Leonard) on September 18, 1948. They would go on to have 7 children. Ellis was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Ecolab in 1991. Ellis was an exceedingly talented carpenter; he could fix or build anything with meticulous precision. A remarkable man, whose quiet strength and kind heart were reflected in his woodworking. His true joy was spending time with his family. He was a man of strong values, and he taught his family the importance of family, hard work, and helping others in need. Ellis’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten. Ellis is survived by his children Mike (Linda) Schott, Sandi (Carl) Smith, Karen “Susie” Flowers, Randy (Sandy) Schott, Darrell (Cheryl) Schott, Howard (Deniece) Schott, Ellis (Robyn) Schott. Ellis is survived by his grandchildren Tammy (Tom) Onsen, Jennifer (Jeff) Bjelland, Jeff (Staci) Schott, John (Tawnya) Mack, Jodie (Chris) Crawford, Bill (Paula) Shelly, Lisa (Adam) Havekost, Robert Byerley Jr., Mike (Janna) Byerley, Carrie (John) Byerley, Tim (Staci) Schott, Jason (Nikki) Schott, Raymond Tyree, Diamond McKenna, Beth (Chris) McPherson, Todd (Krysten) Schott, Kelsey (Jacob) Porterfield, Anthony (Rachel) Cavelle, Aidan (Madison) Schott, Kellan Schott. Ellis is survived by his great-great-grandchildren, Cole Russell, Trent Russell, Ryland Russell, Mason Wren, Nolan Wren, Hadley Wren, Weston Kolthoff, Avery Rayburn, Paisley Gimple, Emmy Gimple, Tori Harringon, Kayla Harrington, Addi Harrington, Grayson Hawley, Emmery Step, River Crawford, Claire Crawford, Joseph Schiavo, Lucas Schiavo, Liyah Shelley, Ava Shelley, Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mabel Schott. His loving wife Delores (nee Leonard). His siblings Lloyd, Gail, Donald, Francis, Ivan, Roy, David, Wayne, Doris, Vera, Mary, Shirley. Sons-in law Robert Byerley Sr. and Tom Flowers. Grandsons Mikie Leonard, William Roscoe Byerley. Granddaughter Heidi Byerly. Great-Granddaughter Brittani Sayner. Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held at R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home the following day, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A private inurnment will take place at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery at a later date.
