Mary L. Landers

Mary L. Landers Age 80, of Dwight, IL, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Morris Hospital. Born July 28, 1944, to Budd Landers and Coyla Finch at home in Dwight, Illinois. On June 2, 1962, Mary was united in marriage with Leo Robert Horrie in Dwight, Illinois. They shared 20 years of marriage before his passing on January 1, 1983. Later, on May 1, 1998, she married Leonard Mahler in Pontiac, Illinois, and they were blessed with another 20 years together before he preceded her in death on February 7, 2019. Mary found joy in cross-stitching and quilting. She had a special fondness for fishing and loved her Walt Disney movies. Above all, Mary deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and treasured the time spent at family reunions surrounded by extended family. Mary is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Wayne) Wren of South Wilmington, IL; two sons, Todd (Karen) Horrie of Gardner, IL, and Tim (Val) Horrie of Diamond, IL. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Robert (Amanda) Wren, John (Meredith) Wren, Joseph (Hannah) Wren, Abigail (Mason) Southhall, Scott Horrie, and Ryan (Makenna) Horrie. Mary was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Lillie, Jack, Lee, Evie, Mason, Nolan, Hadley, Penelope, and Theadora. She is also survived by two brothers, Harry (Earline) Landers of Dwight, IL, and Larry Landers of Gardner, IL; a sister-in-law, Janice Landers of Streator, IL; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her siblings, Louise (Howard) Bailey, John (Pat) Landers, Donald (Daisy) Landers, Violet Landers, Ronald Landers; her sister-in-law, June Landers; and her dear friend, Sharon Derby. Cremation rights have been accorded, and a graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
