Tammy Sue Kruchten

Tammy Sue Kruchten (née Rhodes) Age 63, of Wilmington, IL, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL. She was born June 19, 1962, in Joliet, IL, to Dale and Leila (née Waldron) Rhodes. On June 28, 1986, Tammy was united in marriage to her devoted husband, Mark Kruchten, at Pilcher Park in New Lenox, IL, and together they shared nearly 40 years of life, building a life filled with memories, family, and a bond that stood the test of time. Tammy dedicated many years of her life to caring for others through her work. She served as an Administrative Assistant at PRG Schultz in Shorewood, also worked as a cafeteria employee at Booth Central School in Wilmington, and spent many years as the Administrator and Social Quarters Manager at Wilmington Moose Lodge #241. In retirement, she found her greatest joy in her most cherished role, lovingly caring for her wonderful grandchildren. She was a devoted Girl Scout leader, an enthusiastic supporter and true #1 fan of the Wilmington Wildcats, and a lifelong lover of baseball, especially the Chicago White Sox. Tammy was a member of Island City Baptist Church in Wilmington. Tammy will be remembered for her selfless heart and gentle spirit. Even in the face of her own challenges, she always found ways to give to others. She shared a special bond with her sister-in-law and dear friend, the late Debbie Rhodes, with whom she spent time preparing and delivering baskets for others. Tammy loved deeply and without hesitation, and her family was the center of her world. Tammy shared an especially close and cherished bond with her mother, Leila. The two spent countless hours together, finding comfort and joy in one another’s presence. Some of their most treasured moments were the simplest, often walking back and forth to each other’s homes or sitting outside in the yard, visiting, talking, or simply enjoying each other’s company. That time and the love they shared will be deeply missed by her mother and forever held close to her heart. She is survived by her beloved husband, Mark Kruchten; her loving mother, Leila Rhodes of Wilmington; her children, Adam (Gina) Kruchten of Wilmington and Amber Kruchten of Wilmington; and her cherished grandchildren, Baylee McInerney, Connor Kruchten, and Chase Kruchten. She is also survived by her brothers, Dale Rhodes of Wilmington and Donnie (Julie) Rhodes of Braidwood, IL; her special nieces, JoLinda and Lauren Rhodes; along with numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Rhodes; her brother, Donald Eugene Rhodes in infancy; her granddaughter, Amelia “Pia” McInerney; her sister-in-law, Debbie Rhodes; and her best friend, Robin Rynearson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory in Braidwood, IL, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jeff Logsdon. In accordance with Tammy’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tammy’s name may be made to the Maggie Daley Center for Women’s Cancer Care or Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, in honor of the love, strength, and compassion she so generously shared with others.
