Dirk H. Silvis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Age 64, of Custer Park, IL passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 at home after battling cancer. Dirk was born February 15, 1957, in Ford City, PA to the late Wayne and Carole Silvis. He was a heavy equipment and pipeline operator for over forty years. Dirk was larger than life and everyone loved him, he never met a stranger, always helping others, always made people laugh. He loved everything outdoors; hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers, working on all types of motors and rebuilding cars from the ground up. He loved being with family and the outdoors brought him peace and comfort. Survived by his wife, Suz, of 12 years, two sisters, Cindy (Stan) Smith and Kellie (Jeff) Banyay, both of Pickerington, OH; step-son, John (Sabrenna) Protain of Camden, NC; son, Jason and daughter, Ashley of Cleveland, OH; daughter, Shelby of Youngstown, OH; mother-in-law, Judith Zielinski and brother-in-law, Barry (Audria) Zielinski both of OK; nieces and nephews, Jordan, Josh, Haley, Ariel, Brittney and Dominique; 7 grandchildren; and his loyal four legged companion, Bella. Dirk is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Carole Silvis; two sons, Ryan and Brandon; father-in-law, Francis Zielinski and nephew, Tyler. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
