Age 81, of Minooka, IL passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 after a ten month struggle resulting from an accident at home. Born February 13, 1931 in Mansfield, LA to the late Houston and Cleo (nee Bumpus) Weathersby, Sr. Houston was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War as a dental technician. While stationed in California, he met his wife of 57 years, Edna, who was also serving in the Navy. Surviving are his wife, Edna (nee Lyme) Weathersby of Minooka, IL, married on March 8, 1955 in Wilmington, IL; five sons, Houston Weathersby, III of Minooka, Darrin (Diana) Weathersby of Arizona, Steven Weathersby of Minooka, Keith Weathersby of Minooka, and Daniel (Tammy Bentle) Weathersby of Essex, IL; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Tigger. Also survived by his brother, Don Weathersby of Louisiana. Preceding him in death was one sister, Elaine Herbert. “Hugh” was an avid sports fan, rarely missing a Minooka Indians football game, and a die hard Cincinnati Reds fan. He was passionate about sports and cooking. His incredible mechanical skills made him the” go to guy” whenever something needed to be fixed. Cremation rites have been accorded. Family and friends will meet at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, Friday, August 24, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. to follow in procession to the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL for committal services with military honors at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name to the Joliet Community Hospice Home in Joliet, IL, would be appreciated.
