J.C. McKinney Age 88, of Essex, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at his home. Born March 24, 1926 in Huntington, TN to the late Elbert and Lola (nee Mitchell) McKinney. Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII and also a Veteran of the United States Marines, serving during the Korean Conflict. J.C. was a 33rd degree Mason. He was a member of the South Wilmington Sportsman’s Club in Essex. Surviving are his wife, Wanda (nee Burke), whom he married April 4, 1947 in Chicago; one son, James (Roseann) McKinney of Orland Hills, IL; two daughters, Linda Schroll and Anita (Bill) Andrews, both of Essex; several grandchildren; and one brother, Billy McKinney of Justice, IL. Funeral services will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, Monday, December 8, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. with visitation two hours preceding services. Rev. Steven Lange will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
