James F. Tacchia Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James F. “Jim” Tacchia Age 69, of Essex, IL, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at home with family at his side following a two year battle with cancer. Surviving are his partner in so many adventures of life, his “wife” Lisa of 37 years; son, James (Gina) Tacchia Jr. of Joliet, IL; granddaughter, Emma, whom he was so proud. Also surviving are aunt, Patricia Majetic of Shorewood; cousins, Mike Majetic and Gina Fuvey, Len (Sara) Majetic of Wausau, WI; nephew, Joe (Kelly) Tacchia of Custer Park; brothers, Michael (Colleen) Tacchia and Tony Tacchia of Wisconsin; in-laws, Earl and Marge Roll of Edelstein, IL; sister and brother-in-law, Gary and Marilyn Fuller; sister-in-law, Cindy Bashusen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. Jim was a founding member of Midwest TOP Sportsman Drag Racing Association. One of his greatest loves was drag racing. Jim and Lisa, along with his very special “team family members” won several championships and awards. Jim started drag racing in the mid 60’s and this season of 2017 was the first he would miss. Riding his beloved Harley Davidson Motorcycle through the Northwoods of Wisconsin or riding with the other racers and friends on “off racing” weekends was something he loved to do. He was a truck driver most of his working career, most with Hoyt Bros. Trucking of Joliet hauling U.S. Mail retiring three years ago. Jim and Lisa lived in central Wisconsin for 24 years on a very large potato farm and hauled potatoes to Chicago everyday and have many friends still there. Moving back to Joliet area 12 years ago to care for his mother. Jim and Lisa settled in Essex. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be private.
