LaVerne Tamayo-Sandstrom (nee Weder) Age 81, of Coal City, IL, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Heritage Health in Dwight, IL. Born April 11, 1937 in Washington, DC to the late LaVerne and Maxine (nee Carlise) Weder. Member of the Main Street Baptist Church in Braidwood. LaVerne was known to be very generous and always put others before her. She enjoyed bingo, crosswords, collecting dolls, church, yardwork, angels, and her favorite color was blue. Surviving are four sons, Doug Sandstrom of Shorewood, IL, Mark (Geri) Sandstrom of Braidwood, Kevin Sandstrom of Chicago, IL, and Anthony Tamayo; one daughter, Debbie Sandstrom of Dwight, IL; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Alva (Emmitt) Nelson of IN; one brother, Russ (Judy) Wallace of Asotin, WA; and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were one daughter, Carla Marie; and two brothers, Jim Proctor and William Weder. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Thursday, July 19, from 4-6 p.m. with memorial visitation at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
