On February 22, 2010 Lenore lost her battle with cancer. It was a courageous fight. Lenore provided 63 years of remarkable pleasure to so many. Her outstanding outer beauty was only surpassed by her inner beauty, compassion and charm. Lenore leaves behind her loving husband John, of Custer Park; son Mark Ramsey of Custer Park, brothers Larry Libersher of Wilmington and Leonard Libersher of Florida. Also left behind are seven beautiful grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lenore’s son Jason Ramsey, parents Louise and Edward Libersher of Joliet have all preceded her on this final journey. Lenore’s circle of friends had no boundaries. The team of Lenore and John are recognized for their work with dogs at the Rojon School of Dog Obedience and the Animal Resort, both located in Frankfort, IL. In later years, from her Wilmington, IL home Lenore became known for her work to preserve, promote and educate people about the historic road, Route 66. Lenore and John traveled all over this country and beyond promoting proper dog behavior and historic preservation. Along the way, Lenore became the wholesome image that attracted people to her like a magnet. She had the uncanny ability to be loved by all age groups. Strangers became immediate lifelong friends. Lenore’s passion for historic preservation can be experienced and appreciated all along the famous Route 66 highway. She was the first woman to ever receive the “John Steinbeck Award” for preservation. Lenore and John have also been inducted into the Route 66 Hall of Fame. The Route 66 Museum in Pontiac, IL has many displays that show the smiling Lenore working on projects and greeting people. In the past year many found it hard to believe the pain she was experiencing as the cancer attempted to pull her down. She continued to care about other people and places over her own problems. Lenore’s journey here on earth may have ended, but a new exciting journey has begun. Lenore’s final wish is for all of you to love and help each other. She wants you to create your own scrapbook full of pleasant memories. Funeral services were from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, Friday, February 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. to St. Rose Catholic Church, 600 S. Kankakee St., Wilmington, IL, for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Bondi officiating. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery in New Lenox, IL. The visitation was at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, Thursday, February 25, from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, February 26, from 9-10:30 a.m.
