Michael W. Christensen “Hoover” Age 53, of Coal City, IL, formerly of Gardner, IL, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Morris Hospital in Morris, IL. Born September 9, 1961 in Morris, IL. Graduate of Gardner-South Wilmington High School, Class of 1979. Michael was a lifelong farmer in the Gardner area. Member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 in Countryside, IL. Michael served as Road Commissioner for Felix Township. He was a supporter of the Illinois Junior and High School Rodeo and the Missouri Valley College. Also a member of the International Professional Rodeo Association and the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. Surviving are his wife, Patricia (nee Macketta), whom he married August 4, 1984; two daughters, Keeley Kay (Josh Senn) Christensen and Michelle Ann Christensen, both of Coal City; his mother, Shirley (nee Arendt) Farland of Gardner; sisters, Pamela Holohan and Cindy (Denny) Christensen of Gardner; brother, Brian (Debbie) Christensen of Gardner; father-in-law, John (Sonny) and (Mae) Macketta of Coal City; nieces and nephews, Tawnya (John) Mack of Gardner, Dean (Christina) Christensen of Coal City, Tiffany (Matt) Stabb of Shorewood, Chris (Colleen) Christensen of South Wilmington, John (Kelly) Christensen of Gardner, Janelle (Matt) Biros of Gardner, Joe (Brooke) Holohan of Morris, and Meghan (Josh) Slattery of Morris. Preceding him in death was his father, Wendell Christensen; brother, Christopher Christensen; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Macketta. Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, Wednesday, November 26, 2014, from 3-8 p.m. with funeral services at 8:00 p.m. Rev. John Hornicak will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the family or to the donor’s choice.
