Michael "Spike" Ercegovich

Age 90, of Reddick, IL passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL. Born May 22, 1921 in Vandergriff, PA. Spike was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He retired from Local #11 in Chicago, IL having been employed as a hot tar roofer for Adler Roofing for fifty years. He was also a former bus driver for the Catholic Seminary in Joliet, IL. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus #1574 in Braidwood and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #967 in Morris, IL. He enjoyed playing cards every Wednesday night with his friends. Spike was known for his generous soul and is greatly missed. Surviving are wife, Virginia (nee Scott) Wills-Ercegovich of Reddick, whom he married April 26, 1982 in Kankakee, IL; daughter, Beth (Mark) Walczak of Frankfort, IL; two grandchildren, Chad Michael (Laura) Meents and Elizabeth Meents; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, Chris Madac; mother, Amelia Stipcevic; and eleven siblings, of which Spike was proud to be the second oldest. Funeral services will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation Tuesday, May 22 from 6-8 p.m. and also Wednesday, May 23 from 11-1 p.m. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Morris, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Grateful Patient Program 350 N. Wall St., Kankakee, IL 60901 would be appreciated.
