Richard James Ryszewski
June 25, 1931 - January 3, 2014
Age 82, of Braidwood, IL, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at his home. He was born June 25, 1931 in Chicago, IL to the late Frank and Mary (nee Hudula) Ryszewski. He was a graduate of Reed-Custer High School Class of 1950 and Valedictorian of his class. He was a graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics. He served two years in the United States Army. He then received a National Defense Educational grant and continued his studies at Stanford University in California earning his Masters Degree in Mathematics. He later furthered his education at the Institute of Research, Le High University, Bethlehem, PA. His teaching career began at Coal City High School, then to Bloom High School. He was then a Math Professor at Prairie State College and retired there after thirty-five years of teaching. Rich was a very loving and generous brother and uncle. Always interested in stories and activities of his great nieces and nephews and loved to visit with them. He was very supportive and tutored many students, especially his own family in Math for many years up until his passing. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank “Fritz”; and brother-in-law, John Kalec. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Kalec of Braidwood; nephew, John (Karen) Kalec of Knoxville, TN; and niece, Roxann (Chuck) Kuchar of Custer Park, IL; and several great nieces and nephews. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery, Braidwood.
