Roger E. Hileman Age 89, of Braidwood, IL passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Franciscan St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, IL. Born July 25, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Paul and Etta (nee Visser) Hileman. Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served in World War II. He retired as a millwright from Union #1693 in Chicago. He also owned and operated Hileman’s Motor Mart in Braidwood for over fifty years. Member of the VFW Post # 5422 in Wilmington and he was also a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge #704 A.F. & A.M. in Braidwood. He was proud to volunteer on the memorial squad at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL and volunteer for the Braidwood Fire Department for 25 years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed birdwatching. He also loved baking, cooking, and working puzzles. Surviving are two sons, Roger (Cindy) Hileman of Shorewood, IL and Donald (Becky) Hileman of Braidwood; daughter, Susan (Gary Gauthier) Hileman of Sodus, MI; five grandchildren, Ryan Hileman, Renee Ottabre, Jacob Marshall, Chris Marshall, and PJ Marshall; and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, Murleen (nee Ebels) Hileman; one son, Ronald Hileman; and two brothers, Robert and Paul Hileman. Funeral services will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Justin Kinder officiating. Visitation Friday, October 30 from 4-8 p.m. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Joliet, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be directed to Vitas Hospice in Chicago or Lakeland Hospice in St. Joseph, MI would be appreciated.
