Velma Mae Picciariello

March 24, 1938 - August 16, 2016

Velma Mae Picciariello (nee Miller) Age 78, of Coal City, IL, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at her home surrounded by family. Born March 24, 1938 in Illinois Station, IN to the late Kitchel and Bonnie (nee Dyer) Miller. Velma began dancing and performing acrobats at the age of 2 with the Schultz Dance Studio in Chicago, IL. She continued her love for dance by opening a dance studio with her sister Patricia in Chicago. She previously worked as a secretary at Dr. Relucio’s office in Morris, IL. Velma was an election judge for many years, as well as Treasurer for Braceville-Gardner Cemetery, and also served as a trustee for Felix Township. Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Picciariello Uher of Coal City and Lisa (Doug) Scribner of Dwight, IL; three grandchildren, Candice Christian, Misty Uher, and Amber Uher; three great grandchildren, Christian Wren, Gryson Johnson, and Ryder Uher; her long-time companion, Roger Viviana of Coal City; one sister, Linda (James) Polak of Vienna, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Frank Picciariello; daughter, Brenda Christian; and two sisters, Patricia Crothers and Evelyn Miller. Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, Friday, August 19, 2016, from 5 – 8 PM with prayer services at 7:30 PM. Chaplin Jim McGuire will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Inurnment will be private in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery in Braceville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be directed to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
