Wanda Mildred Mabe

December 13, 1934 - November 24, 2016

Wanda W. Mabe (nee Lowe) Wanda Mildred (Lowe) Mabe, 81, transitioned from earth to her new home in Heaven on November 24, 2016, after a family and friend filled Thanksgiving Day. She is the wife of Edward T. Mabe. They were married sixty-six years and have had a wonderful life filled with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She retired from Saint Joseph Hospital after fifteen years of service. After retiring she and Ed became foster parents sharing their home with seventy-eight children over the years. Five of those children became permanent members of their family. She enjoyed her role as a foster parent helping to shape the lives of so many children. She loved to travel with her family. Disney, Jamaica, and Hawaii were some very memorable place they traveled. One summer the whole family went to the Michigan Dunes to celebrate the holiday. If you ask the grand-children, they will tell you all about their summer trips to the beach club. She was a member of the Main St. Baptist Church of Braidwood. She shared her faith by serving a snack or a meal to the young people of Braidwood who would stop by to visit her sons. She never refused any one food who came by, knowing they may have not eaten that day. She leaves behind her beloved husband Edward T. Mabe, four daughters, Tommy Sue Knight (Earnest), Elizabeth Christine Sheeley, Mary Medows, Tiffany Marie Baughman. Five sons, Edward Thomas Mabe Jr., Jessie Edward Mabe, Kevin Edward Mabe, Victor Mabe, and Charles Edward Mabe, one brother James Perry Lowe (Judy), two sisters Nell Mutter, Bessie Reese. She was blessed by her children with nine granddaughters and six grandsons, seventeen great granddaughters, twenty-three great grandsons, six great great granddaughters, and six great great grandsons; numerous nieces and nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents William Perry Lowe, Ethel Gambrill, one brother William Perry Lowe Jr. four sisters Frances White (RA), Lena Babb (Delbert), Willia Poltes (Chuck), Gladys Absher (Donald), one great granddaughter, and two great great grandsons.
