Barbara "Barb" Lee Mathison

Barbara "Barb" Lee Mathison (née Foley) Age 73, of Campus, IL, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. She was born on April 22, 1952, in Pontiac, IL, to the late Leo and Christina (née Maubach) Foley. On May 21, 1971, Barb was united in marriage to Dennis Mathison in Pontiac, IL. Together, they built a life filled with love and companionship, sharing an incredible 54 years side by side. Barb was employed at the Fox Developmental Center in Dwight, IL, where she devoted over 30 years of dedicated service. A devoted Catholic, Barb lived her faith through action, compassion, and service. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother whose greatest joy came from caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She found immense joy and a deep appreciation for the simple beauties of life. She loved her cherished coffee, took great pride in her gardening, and delighted in the vibrant colors and cheerful blooms of her flowers and plants. A true lover of the outdoors, she especially treasured time soaking up the sunshine. She also enjoyed time at their cabin in Missouri. Barb was widely known for her legendary strawberry jam, a treat beloved by many. A woman of strong faith, she was always eager to lend a hand and offer her time and talents to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Campus, Illinois. Barb's heart held a very special place for her faithful companion, Bailey—her beloved dog and loyal friend—who brought immeasurable comfort and joy to her daily life. Barb’s love lives on through her husband and best friend, Dennis Mathison; her son, Craig (Cassie) Mathison of Reddick, IL; her daughter, Christi (Travis) Richards of Las Vegas, NV; and her five cherished grandchildren: Cameron, Carson, and Caden Richards, and Charlie and Hazel Mathison. She also leaves behind a loving extended family and many dear friends, who will remember her warmth, laughter, and generous heart. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and three brothers. Cremation rites have been accorded and entrusted to R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory in Braidwood, IL.
