Claranne L. Bristow

Age 87, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Regency Nursing Home in Morris, IL. Born November 22, 1932 in Petersburg, IL to the late Clarence and Juanita (nee Griffin) Gilmore. Claranne was raised in Havana, IL. She graduated from the Springfield Memorial School of Nursing in 1953. Claranne met Jimmy Lee Bristow at Memorial Hospital in Springfield where he was a Radiology Technician and she was a Registered Nurse. They married August 1, 1954 at the First Baptist Church. Soon after, they moved to Iowa where they raised their family. Throughout her nursing career she worked for several different hospitals, but eventually retired from the DeWitt Community Hospital in Iowa. In 1995, Claranne and Jimmy moved to Arkansas after retirement and became members of the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Fairfield Bay. Her husband passed away August 11, 2011, she remained in Arkansas until a year ago and then moved to Illinois to be closer to her children. She greatly enjoyed nursing, and her other hobbies included painting and playing the piano. Surviving are two children, Curtis Bristow of Godley, IL and Suzie (Jon) Knapp of Waterford, MI; five grandchildren, Michael (Sydney) Knapp, Stephanie (Bryan) Connell, Katie (Jeff) Henderson, Ryan Knapp, and Matthew Bristow; six great-grandchildren, Arielle Knapp, Trent Boudreau, Lexi Strohm, Aubrey, Tanner, and Ayden Henderson, and one great-grandson due to arrive in August; one brother, Kenny Gilmore in AK; one sister, Corabel (Doug) Ralston of Chagrin Falls, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; son, James “Mick” Bristow; daughter-in-law, Maria (nee Peterson) Bristow; and one grand-daughter, Kelly Bristow. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private services and inurnment will be held at a later date in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
