Margaret E. Fjelde

Margaret E. Fjelde (née Dalziel) Age 96, of Gardner, IL, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, January 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 17, 1929, in South Wilmington, IL, to Andrew and Frances (née Clelland) Dalziel. She was united in marriage on July 27, 1952, to Roy A. Fjelde in Gardner, IL, and together they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to family until Roy’s passing on November 27, 1976. She was a devoted farm wife and mother whose life centered around her faith and her family. She was deeply involved in her church and served as a member of the cemetery committee for Grand Lutheran Prairie Cemetery. A longtime member of United Lutheran Church in Gardner, she shared her musical talents by playing the organ and directing the church choir. Margaret also loved cooking, and caring for her family was always her greatest joy. Margaret is survived by her two loving children, Eric Fjelde of Gardner, IL, and Martha (Dan) Ondrejko of Lakewood, CO. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Andrew (Miranda) Fjelde, Jacob (Haleigh) Fjelde, Kristin (Devon) Viart, and Erik Ondrejko, and a cherished special grandmother to Lindsey Mosier. Her legacy continues through her two beloved great-grandchildren, Barrett and Junie Fjelde. She is also survived by her nieces, Ginger Ahl of Black River Falls, WI, and Amy Waddell of Skiatook, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy A. Fjelde; her son, Karl A. Fjelde; her nephew, Jim Waddell; and her brother and sister-in-law, Argyle and Rowena Dalziel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Gardner, IL. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m., with Pastors Greg Olsen and Jan Chandler officiating. Interment will take place at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery in Braceville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Grand Prairie Lutheran Cemetery Fund or the Gardner Ambulance Service.
