Randy Sorensen Age 73, of South Wilmington, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Morris Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 29, 1952, in Joliet, IL, Randy was the son of Wayne Edward and Esther Marie (née Residori) Sorensen. He married the love of his life, Robin Lee Wright, on October 3, 1987, in Dwight, IL, beginning a marriage built on laughter, loyalty, and unwavering devotion. Randy dedicated over three decades of hard work as a maintenance employee at Caterpillar in Joliet, retiring after 31.5 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked at Fisher Auto Parts for four years and later at the South Wilmington Beach & Fireman’s Club for three years. Most recently, he worked with Illinois Central School Bus, where he remained a familiar and dependable presence for several more years. A true pillar of South Wilmington, Randy was deeply rooted in his community. He was a proud member of the South Wilmington Fire Department and the South Wilmington Beach & Fireman’s Club, always willing to lend a hand, share a laugh, or show up when it mattered most. His presence was steady, his generosity genuine, and his impact lasting. Randy lived life with a sense of humor and a love for the simple things that brought people together. He was an avid golfer and a member of Wolf Creek Golf Course in Cayuga, where he spent countless hours enjoying the game and the camaraderie that came with it. He also had a passion for hunting, fast cars, and classic John Wayne movies. He was a loyal fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington and took pride in his memberships with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Above all, Randy will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him. Whether sharing a story, cracking a joke, or simply spending time with those he loved, Randy made life brighter for everyone fortunate enough to know him. His greatest pride was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His love, laughter, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Randy is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Robin; his devoted son, Attilio (Nina) Sorensen of South Wilmington; his beloved daughter, Harmony (Frank) Labanowski of Coal City; nine cherished grandchildren, Cassie, Frankie, Brooklyn, Teegan, Tysen, Ryder, Brayden, Audrey, and Evelyn; and one sister, Linda Carmack of South Wilmington. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved son, Brandon Sorensen; his daughter-in-law, Melanie Sorensen; and his brother-in-law, Billie Carmack. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory in Braidwood, IL, beginning at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Father Stanley Drewniak. Visitation for family and friends will follow from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation in accordance with Randy’s wishes. A private family inurnment will take place at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Randy’s name may be directed to the American Kidney Foundation. R.W.
