Stephen Wayne Walters

Stephen Wayne Walters Age 68, of Custer Park, IL passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Born November 11, 1952 in Terre Haute, IN to Raymond and Lizzy Jane Walters. Stevie Wayne as commonly called by his close friends and family worked for many years at FS and later for Car-Ber Testing and TEAM Industrial, having retired in 2014 after becoming ill. Steve enjoyed fishing, golf, drinking beer and especially playing pool. Steve was a member of APA and played on several local teams where he made numerous life-time friends. Steve was an avid card player, especially Texas Hold ‘Em where he loved to gamble with his friends. Steve had a tremendous sense of humor and loved to make people laugh, however, Steve’s greatest joy in life was his family especially his grandkids. Steve’s love of his grandkids showed in everything he did, they were his pride and joy and his favorite word to hear was “Grandpa”. Steve dearly loved his grandson Dillan Lobb, 11, granddaughters Deanna, 9, and Dokotta Lobb, 4, of Essex, IL; grandson Julian James (JJ) Walters, 3, granddaughters Paisley, 2, and November, 8 months, Walters of Coal City, IL; and granddaughters Haigan, 4, and Brinn 18 months, Trumble of Custer Park, IL and very special “Little Buddy” Blake Foster of Braidwood, IL, whom all had their own special bond with Grandpa and will miss him deeply. Some people find their meaning in life with the accomplishments they’ve done and material assets the obtained; however, Steve found his silver lining and true meaning in life was being a grandpa. Since being homebound, Steve found enjoyment in spending his time Face-timing his family throughout the day to make sure they were smiling. Steve is survived by his best-friend of 18 years Kathie Walters, of Custer Park, IL, son Raymond Walters, of Estes Park, CO, daughter Jamie Walters (JJ, Paisley and November), of Coal City, IL, daughter and son-in-law Dani and Darrell Lobb (Dillan, Deanna and Dakotta), of Essex, IL, daughter Kaysee Stark (Haigan and Brinn), of Custer Park, IL and son Alex Walters and family, brother Larry (Lynn) Walters of Crest Hill, IL and brother Ron (Janele) Walters of Morris, IL along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceeding Steve in death were his parents; and brothers Rick Walters and Don Walters. Cremation rites will be accorded. R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Braidwood is entrusted with the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Wilmington Moose Lodge 32050 W.
